Public X status posts

X (Twitter) Video Downloader

Paste a public X (Twitter) post link to view and download available MP4 video formats.

Public HTTPS X (Twitter) status links only. No login cookies are requested.

How this tool works

  1. 1

    Copy the public status URL

Open the post in X, choose Share, and copy the link ending in /status/ followed by a numeric ID. A profile, search or list URL is not a media request.

  2. 2

    Paste the link into SSSXVid

The form accepts an HTTPS x.com or twitter.com status URL. The link is normalized before the public status request is sent to the media gateway.

  3. 3

    Choose a returned MP4

Review the quality and resolution supplied by the gateway. Direct files can download immediately; a file that needs assembly shows render progress instead.

Output and limits

How X (formerly Twitter) video downloads work

The result list reflects the files the gateway can validate for that public post. SSSXVid does not invent an HD or 4K label from a filename, and it does not promise a quality that the source does not expose.

A public post can contain more than one media role. The video result is placed first on this page, while other downloadable media stays available below it rather than being discarded.

Direct files and rendered files

A direct file has a short-lived download token and can be saved as soon as the result appears. If the gateway must merge or assemble streams, the action changes to a render state and the result is not described as ready until the job completes.

Download tokens expire after a limited period. If an old button stops working, submit the public status URL again instead of reusing the expired link.

When this page cannot return a video

The post must be public and available to the gateway. Protected posts, deleted posts, profile pages, search pages, direct messages, Spaces and livestreams are outside this V1 workflow.

A photo-only post is not treated as a failed video download. The page explains that no video was found and keeps any image or other media result below the notice.

Using the downloaded file

On desktop, the browser normally places an MP4 in its Downloads folder. On iPhone or Android, the browser may save it to Files or Downloads first; the device guide explains the next step for Photos or Gallery.

Only download media you own or have permission to use. SSSXVid is not affiliated with X Corp and does not grant a licence to repost someone else's work.

A failure case to check

Symptom

The public post loads but no video is listed

Likely cause

The status may contain photos only, the video may be unavailable, or the gateway may not have identified a video track.

Action

Read the media notice and check the cards below it. Use the Photo page for a photo-only post, or try another public status URL if the source is unavailable.

Tested scenarios

The table separates confirmed behavior from gateway checks that still need a permitted fixture.

Questions users ask before downloading

How do I download a video from X?

Copy the public X status link, paste it into SSSXVid, and choose one of the MP4 files returned for that post. The exact quality depends on the source and gateway response.

Does this work with x.com links?

Yes, the accepted input is an HTTPS x.com status URL when it matches the supported status pattern. Profile, search and list links are not treated as downloadable posts.

Can I download a video from an old Twitter link?

Yes, when the public twitter.com URL matches the supported status pattern and the gateway accepts the legacy hostname. X is the current name, but older Twitter links are still commonly shared.

Can I download a protected Twitter video?

No. SSSXVid only processes public status posts on X and does not ask for login cookies or protected-post access.

Why did a public post return no video?

It may be a photo-only post, deleted or restricted, or the gateway may not have found a video track. Any other returned media remains visible below the message.

Which video quality will I receive?

The page shows the quality and resolution that the gateway can verify. It does not label every file HD or 4K when the source metadata is missing.

Can one Twitter post contain more than one downloadable file?

Yes. A public post on X can expose several video formats or media roles. The video page places video first and keeps photos, GIF-style MP4 and MP3 results below it when available.

Are X Spaces and livestreams supported?

No. Spaces and livestreams are outside the V1 capability set. Use a regular public status post with a supported media asset.

Why did the download button expire?

Download tokens are short-lived for security. Submit the same public status URL again to receive a fresh result and token.

Where is the downloaded MP4 saved?

Desktop browsers usually use Downloads. On iPhone and Android, the browser may use Files or Downloads, so the final location depends on your device and browser settings.
